May 7, 2009 Route 66 trip

May 7, 2009
Today we as we were leaving Wisconsin Dells, (the locals call it “The Dells”) we saw the upside-down white house. It really fun to play around there. The whole town is one big play town. They have several water parks & theme parks. You could really be entertained around there for a long time.
Then as we were heading out of town to find a cheese place we drove by a restaurant & saw a moose on top of a PT. The place wasn’t open yet but the doors were unlocked so I went in to let them know how much we like the moose PT. We got to talk to the manager & found out that he also owns a PT & they have a small club, but they don’t do very much. We had lots of fun with that also.
We found a cheese place & bought goodies & some squeaky cheese (curds) & beef sticks. We decided not to stop for lunch & just snack on our goodies.
We then headed for Chicago. Tried to beat rush hour but our GPS’s misled us a few times & got stuck right in the middle of it. It was 82 degrees & sunny. I have gotten sunburned over the last few days. We finally arrived at the Congress Plaza Hotel. What a great old hotel. The architecture is truly beautiful around here. We had dinner at a very nice pub then went walking around Grant park & over to the edge of Lake Michigan. Then Allan, Mindy, John & Angel went over to Millennium Park to see the bean & Mary, Rudy & I headed back to the hotel through the park & took some great pictures along the way. We have a beautiful view out our room windows of Grant Park, Buckingham fountain, & Lake Michigan.
